Property
Legislation Update (June 2007)
The
Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005:
This new fire precautions
law came into effect on 1st October 2006. Fire certificates will be
abolished and will cease to have legal status. A "FIRE
RISK ASSESSMENT" is necessary to confirm compliance with fire
precautions and fire safety. This single piece of legislation is a major
overhaul of the current fire regulations and it replaces all the existing
fire safety legislation. It will have an impact on all employers, owners,
occupiers and self-employed businesses.
The
new CDM Regulations 2007:
The Construction (Design
& Management) Regulations 2007 came into force on 6 April 2007.
Everyone in construction should be aware of the changes. They are intended
to improve health and safety in the construction industry and ensure
management of risk. The client now has much more significant responsibility
in the safety process and there are changes to the CDM Co-ordinator's
role (previously refered to as the Planning Supervisor). For more information
