Disability Access Audits Since October 2004, employers and service providers have been required to ensure every endeavor has been taken to comply with the Disability Discrimination Act 1995 (DDA). An access audit is an essential part of the DDA. It is a critique of the accessibility of an environment against established design guidance and legislation. It covers the physical features of the environment; such as steps, ramps, handrails, wheel chair accessibility, counter heights, as well as a wide range of other legislative and technical considerations such as management issues, staff training, auxiliary aids, colour and tonal contrast and signage. Audits format and complexity will vary depending on the individual nature and environment of the business and indeed the resources available for implementation. We can consider your obligations under law and provide guideline on meeting the standard.
